The projects for 2008-2010 period, either completed or still in development phase, are detailed in next paragraphs.

“DRIP: Demand Response in Industrial Production”

Head researcher: C. Álvarez

Funding Entity: European Union Life + Programme. LIFE11 ENV/DE/340.

The main objective of the DRIP project is to facilitate the integration of RES in the electricity grid due to the usage of the flexibility potential in the energy consuming process of industrial customers.

“The Birth of a European Distributed Energy Partnership That Will Help The Large Scale Implementation Of Distributed Energy Resources In Europe”

The main objective of this project is to design, develop and validate a new methodology to identify business models, based in market requirements, that will help the large-scale implementation of distributed energy resources in Europe in 2010.

 

“G4V - Grid for vehicles: Analysis of the impact and possibilities of a mass introduction of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles on the electricity networks in Europe”

One of the most relevant issues that may prevent the massive deployment of Electrical Vehicles is the ability of the electrical system to charge them. G4V is and European Project whose main objective is the evaluation of the requirement of the Electric System to account for the full implementation EVs developing a Roadmap for that purpose including the regulatory, reinforcement, EV control, etc., strategies that will support the total replacement (scheduled for 2050 by European Comission) of conventional vehicles by EVs.

 

“USE EFFICIENCY: Universities and Students for Energy Efficiency.”

The objective of this European Project, in which 6 Universities and 4 enterprises over Europe are involved, is to create mechanisms (courses, programs, etc.) to increase the awareness of the university students in energy efficiency issues. This is achieved by the design and implementation of courses and workshops with the participation of students of different countries, and where the students suggest  energy efficiency solutions for real buildings, using for that the last technologies and tools. 

 

“DOMOCELL: Sistema domiciliario para recarga de baterías de vehículos eléctricos (Proyecto Singular Estratégico)”

This Project is oriented to evaluate the potential impact that the full substitution of conventional vehicles by Electrical or Plug-In Hybrid vehicles may have in the sector of manufacturing in the Comunidad Valenciana.

      

“Herramientas y políticas eficientes de respuesta de la demanda en mercados eléctricos: Agregación, gestión previsión y planificación.”

This research Project, funded by the Spanish Ministry of Education and Science, is oriented to complement the methodologies  to estimate Demand Response potential in electricity customers (already developed and available in the group)with other tools for estimating the behavior (prices) of the markets in which these customers may participate, either directly or thorough aggregators.

 

“Proyecto oficina DERD en la UPV”

The project performs an energy audit for each of the UPV buildings with the objective of achieving a better use of the facilities and an improvement of the campus energy efficiency. For doing so, the existing facilities are studied, their consumptions analyzed and installation of new equipment is proposed for obtaining a more rational and efficient use of energy. All information is easily accessed through a web site. This website is used to managed the energy consumption of the UPV with the result of savings higher than 20% of the electricity invoice.

 

“Desarrollo de herramientas avanzadas de agregación, evaluación, gestión y simulación de recursos energéticos distribuidos y de demanda en mercados eléctricos liberalizados”

The objective of this Project is to develop new tools to allow the management of Distributed Energy Resources, including the ability of the electrical demand to respond to the price of the electricity. These tools are for individual or aggregated facilities. The customer potential is provided by managing the actual consumer resources (generation, storage or demand control) according to current supply prices.

 

“Metodologías para la especificación de mecanismos técnico-económicos en el campo de la gestión de operación de la demanda eléctrica”

This project is aimed to identify the large customers electricity management capabilities as well as to identifying the best available technology solutions to implement this capacity so that it can be used by network operators.

The project outcome is the basic parameters (power, duration, time of notice, etc.) that have to be considered when designing Demand response products to help in the power system operation.

 

“Modelos de negocio en el campo de los recursos energéticos (DER)”
