ADVANCED TEACHING IN ENERGY TECHNOLOGY

In parallel with the R&TD&I (Research and Technological Development and Innovation) activities in Energy and also with the teaching activities of the IIE researchers in their respective departments, IIE has developed teaching in the energy field within the UPV Postgraduate studies and continuing education courses of the University. Specifically, the following educational activities are developed: Doctoral Program (PhD – Doctor of Phylosophy) in Energy, Official Master's Degree in Energy Technology for Sustainable Development, and Courses for Professional Specialist in Energy, in Renewable Energy and in Efficiency and Energy Savings, all of them of UPV. Moreover, IIE cooperates with University of Santander (Colombia) in an official Master of the Ministry of Education of Colombia on Advanced Energy Systems.

OFFICIAL MASTER ON ADVANCED ENERGY SYSTEMS (MINISTRY OF EDUCATION OF COLOMBIA)

During 2010, IIE worked closely with the University of Santander (UDES) in Bucaramanga, Colombia, in the preparation and defense before the experts of the Ministry of Education of that country, of a Master in Advanced Energy Systems, which was the first of its kind being proposed in Colombia. This program was approved by the National Ministry of Education in accordance with Resolution 10.188 of 22 November 2010 of the National Ministry of Education of Colombia, No. 90.902 SNIES.

An important part of the teaching of the Master will be presented by researchers from IIE. In addition, IIE researchers will supervise master's and PhD thesis within the program and will collaborate in the definition and operation of the UDES laboratories for training in Energy.

COURSES FOR PROFESSIONAL SPECIALIST IN ENERGY

Within the programs of the Continuing Training Centre (CFP) of the UPV, IIE proposed and won approval for three titles of Specialist University courses: one general in Energy and two specialized in Renewable Energy and in Energy Efficiency and Saving. The above-mentioned learning courses use the POLIFORMAT platform of UPV to maintain a fluid contact among teachers and students.

As an extension of these courses, IIE developed a training program for the staff of the Institute for Planning of Electrical Solutions for Non-Interconnected areas of the Ministry of Mines and Energy of Colombia for two years, from December 2008 to December 2010. This program included the three specialist university courses mentioned.
